Pike Place Market"
Does anyone remember the Real World on MTV…my first memory of Seattle was the opening credits of the Real World Seattle with the flying fish in the Pike Place Market. Today was the day I got to see the market in person and it did not disappoint, to be honest I didn’t expect it to be that large…it was stall after stall of vendors and floor after floor of restaurants and quirky shops.
At the south end I found DeLaurenti’s Gourmet Italian market…talk about getting lost in a store. I made my way through each aisle, packed with gorgeous specialty food items and refrigerated displays of hard to find cheese, cured meats, duck confit and various pates, and up the stairs to their wine section. mmmm Now I was really in heaven! Looking at all the local selections got me excited for the wine tour of Woodinville on Saturday.
I wish we had a market like this in Orlando. All I kept thinking about is all the fresh produce available to everyone in this area…how could you not cook all the time here? Oh wait, that’s right, there are incredible restaurants here too
I was drooling over these mushrooms, we never have a selection like this in Central Florida. Luckily, before I leave I am going to the Herb Farm and indulging in a nine course meal centered around locally foraged mushrooms. By the end of this week I will have maxed out on mushrooms! And to think,
up until a few years ago, I wouldn’t eat mushrooms, don’t worry I have more than made up for it in the last few years
